Chad Unrau has served as Vice President, Beneficial Reuse for Western Midstream since July 2026, leading the company’s efforts to advance the treatment and beneficial reuse of produced water. He is responsible for one of the industry’s most comprehensive programs for produced water treatment and beneficial reuse, including pilot-scale testing, commercialization efforts, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation of future reuse opportunities.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Unrau served as Senior Director and Head of Beneficial Reuse for Western Midstream since 2025. He has more than 15 years of experience spanning water treatment, technology commercialization, engineering, and operations, and has built a career focused on transforming innovative technologies into practical, large-scale solutions.

Mr. Unrau has previously served as VP, Beneficial Reuse at Aris Water Solutions and as Chief Operations Officer at Magna Imperio Systems Corp., a water treatment technology company. He has also held several leadership roles in engineering, research and development, and technology deployment with Nano Vapor, Inc. and Cabot Corporation.

Mr. Unrau holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from Bethel College.
